Reflection

Seeking information each time was a new experience and always got easier. A similar aspect with my information-seeking behavior is that each time I needed to understand some information, I resulted in using the internet. The internet has a variety of sources and vast knowledge. This serves as an online library with limitless information concerning different topics. For example, googling the definition of fake news, one is bound to acquire endless definitions because of multiple websites that seek to explain the concept and provide a variety of examples of what each author thinks are the perfect demonstration. The type of information determined the kind of websites I searched and databases I relied on. For schoolwork, I often relied on the library database, and for other information, I used the internet and maneuvered through the different websitesChallenge of personality traits on Information Seeking Behavior.

Information-seeking behavior varies from one person to the other. Additionally, it varies depending on the type of research or the problem at hand. During the documented times I sought after information, I often integrated different academic work methods. According to Halderet al. (2017), it is essential to use various sources when conducting research. However, it is also prudent to identify the different methods that help identify scholarly sources from non-scholarly sources. For authentic information, information that is credible and relevant, it is essential to rely on government websites and search for credible journal articles. As a student, it is not appropriate to heavily depend on the internet for information, and mainly the internet websites. They contain biased information that is often misleading and may result in a student developing biased conclusions. More often than not, I had been relying on information from the internet, which meant I had been making biased conclusions. This was surprising to me significantly since I believed in the power of the internet. The first few articles or websites that emerged once I googled anything were the articles I used and founded my conclusion. This is an element that I need to change because it may affect my judgment of issues. Even when searching for personal information, I should often rely on credible websites and peer-reviewed research articlesChallenge of personality traits on Information Seeking Behavior.
